Our Week

This week everyone seems to be taking turns being sick! Literally, all of us at one point have had the flu, cold, cough or a fever .....
Little Man seems to have gotten the worst of it :( We are on night #3 ! You know he really isn't feeling good when this is where he stays all day :(
Last night he went to sleep with his Daddy laying on the floor by his bed, holding tightly to his little hand ....
The girlies have been working hard trying to get all of their schoolwork finished up by the end of May! I think the warmer weather is encouraging them :)
The girls team had one last tournament over the weekend. They played three games. Mag won " Hustler" of the game during the first one .....

then Hal won " Most Valuable Player" for the third game ....

and this ADORABLE nephew came to watch his older cousins play ball :)

Tasty Tuesday ~ Yogurt Drops

Maggey tried a new recipe a few days ago that I found on Pinterest. It was really easy and fast! Great for the kids to make and eat as a quick snack :)

This is all you need! I know - so easy!

Just cut a hole in the end of a ziplock bag, fill with yogurt and start dropping on to a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.

Voila !!! Just put the cookie sheet in the freezer for 1-2 hours
So Simple !

Easter Happenings........

We had a great Easter Weekend! It's always great when John gets to be home for a day off. We look so forward to that......He got right to work taking the kids outside todo a little clean-up - like finally burning the Christmas Tree :)

Yes, I realize my kids are holding dangerous tools .......
and I also realize that my son chose to wear his sisters hat instead of his own.... but hey- I have to choose my battles :)
We had the second annual Easter egg hunt with the cousins :) My Uncle puts a ton of work into making it an Easter Egg scavenger Hunt - which also takes longer ....but the kids have fun !

He's a city boy  - can't you tell :)

Yes, catching a chicken was part of the hunt...... Is that not normal?

Dividing up the loot :)

Tasty Tuesday ~ Chocolate Chip Cookies

I used to be that Mom... you know the one who didn't want her kids to help out in the kitchen for fear of the extra work and extra cleanup that it would make.. I'm so glad that I have gotten over that - not that I love the cleanup part yet, but I love that my girls are learning to cook.

Little Man likes to help now and again....... I'm also a firm believer that everything tastes better if it's made in my KitchenAid :)

The Family

I just realized I'm at my one month blog-aversary and thought I should introduce myself and the family........
This is an old pic but one of the better ones. This was taken almost 3 years ago at the top of The Stratosphere in Las Vegas.... It seems like forever ago. I'm Shannon and that's my hubby John. We have been together for 15 years and married for almost 13..... I know - We look way too young to be married for sooo long :)

Basketball & A Banquet

Last night was the end of the basketball season for the girls. The public school they play for had a potluck banquet. We are so fortunate where we live that even though the girls are homeschooled and as well when they were in private school, they can try out for any school team until the end of grade 6. There are actually four girls on the team who don't go to that school. This was Halley's third year on the team and Maggey's first. I must add that they even asked the blessing before we ate. It made me feel better knowing if I ever send the girls to public school , they get to go to this one :)

Mag's getting her trophey:)

Hal after she got her trophey :)

Tasty Tuesday ~ Monkey Munch

I first saw this recipe on a tv show I used to watch, called Jon & Kate Plus 8 - remember them??? It's also known as Puppy Chow or Muddy Buddies, but we like to call it Monkey Munch.
Here's the recipe.....
MONKEY MUNCH

~ 9 cups Chex cereal ( any variety )
~1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
~1/2 cup peanut butter
~1/4 cup of butter or margarine
~ 1 tsp. vanilla
~ 11/2 cups powdered sugar

Directions:
1. Put Chex in large bowl and set aside.
2. Place chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter into a quart sized microwavable bowl. ( I actually use a sauce pan and melt on the stove ).
3. Stir ingredients together.
4. Microwave the mixture uncovered for 1 minute on high. Stir the mix again and continue to zap in thirty second intervals until it mixes smoothly.
5. Add the vanilla and stir.
6. Put combination into a 2 gallon freezer bag.
7. Add the powdered sugar, seal the bag and shake.
8. Spread Monkey Munch out on wax paper to cool and dry.
9. Keep refridgerated in an airtight container for storage.

ENJOY :)

Shopping & A Mountain

We headed to the city on Saturday to do a little shopping... When we head to the city we also head to another Country..... cause that's where the BIG sales are!!!! We knew we were about half way there when we saw this....... beautiful isn't it......actually made it worth our rising at 5:30 on a Saturday morning :)
As everyone knows, kids love to shop......being drug from store to store trying on clothes... especially little boys..........So we knew we had to take a break before there was a breakdown and go to the promised restuarant of choice.......

Then we headed to the airport. Are we the only ones here who actually go to the airport just to watch planes take-off and land...... with no intentions of getting on one???????
I know.... it's hard to tell we're from the country and don't get out much...............
After everyone was tired and ready to head home, we had one last stop.... My sis turned me on to these last summer....... Strawberries and cream..... so good........It's probaly a good thing I live no where near a Starbucks........ cause it would be hard to drive by everyday and not go in to get one of these.........
On the way home we couldn't drive by and not stop at the scenic lookoff ..... Did I mention the road to the scenic lookoff is only open from May-October?????? That didn't scare my man... I wanted a pic of the mountain and he was going to make sure I got it :)
