Halley's Birthday

My baby girl is twelve now.

We celebrated simple this year. No big party, just cake and ice cream with the family.

I took a break from making the cake this year and let the good talented people at our grocery store have the honor! I think they did a great job :)

Cake is cake right ??? :)

It's hard not to look at that number and realize ....

That only six more years remain until our little girl is all grown up ...

But for now - we are going to enjoy year 12 !!!!

There were less toys this year ...

More grown up stuff instead ....

Even a new e-reader ...

Just before bedtime we decided to take a drive ....

Somehow we ended up down by the river ....

We had a great time just throwing rocks ....

Now 12, 9 and 4 ...

Hard to believe ...

This Mama trying to freeze every second ....

Looking at my oldest baby knowing just how fast time really does fly by ....

The perfect end to a perfect day ....

She's 12

It still seems hard to believe that 12 years ago today ....

I became a Mommy ...

To a wee little baby girl that didn't weigh much over 5 1/2 pounds ...

It didn't matter how small ...

She captured her Daddy's heart from her first breath .... 

The love we had for this little baby girl ran deep ....

 

Even though we seemed like just babies ourselves ...

And they let us take her home !!!!

 

 That's when we went from being a couple ...

To a Family ...

 

 

and then it happened ...

 

 

We blinked .......

 

 And now .....

 We no longer have that tiny baby girl ...

Instead we have a 12 year old young woman ...

Who is just as beautiful inside as she is out ....

and as a hindsight ...

 

We've also decided to stop blinking ....

 

 

 

 

Hubby's Birthday

When you have little girls ...

You wake up to every special day with your very own homemade sign ....

Girls are thoughtful like that :)

They also secretly set their alarm clock for way before the turkeys even wake up ...

and fix their daddy a special breakfast ....

Little Man slept through the early morning breakfast ...

He decided to wait and celebrate after the sun came up :)

His Mama agreed and may have laid back down after taking pictures ...

but again ..

there is no proof ~ since I hold the camera :)

We had big plans to go out for supper and do a little shopping to celebrate hubby's birthday  ...

but about an hour before John was due to arrive home from work ....

a little blizzard blew in with a BOOM !

So there went our plans ...

Anyone see where the driveway and the road used to be ???

I of course was unprepared ...

For a freak storm that is ...

So the birthday boy came to the rescue ....

With some Subway drive through ...

Hey ! 

At least we ate ...

And finished off with the skor cheesecake - complete with the Wiggles candle ( because someone forgot to buy candles as well ) .... Not my best day - for being prepared that is ...

We made do and had a great time anyways :)

Catching Up ~ Maggey turned 9 ~ Nov. 19/12

Maggey turned 9 ...

Well ~ it's been two months ago now ...

but :

life happened , and I didn't get the blog post done before Samuel was born ...

Better late than never !

Her request this birthday ~ was for a butterfly cake !

We had her party early on Nov 3 ...

So she could celebrate while my sis and her kids were visiting from Alberta ....

The party was at my parents house of course  ....

There was cake ....

because whats a party without cake ? 

Lots of family came to celebrate ....

fun was had by all ....

we are blessed ....

Samuel was there too, still tucked in safe ....

A girl who will always need her daddy ....

I love that at 9, there's still a lot of little left in her ....

A girl who is never too big for dolls & toys ....

Her quilt made by Great Grammy Jones .... 

Celebrating again when Grampie & Grammie came to visit ....

Right before she cut all of it for cancer ....
