Different is Good !!

 So I saw this idea on www.thepioneerwoman.com .

 She did a post featuring 15 ways her and her hubby were different. So I thought I would give it a try :)

Here I go !

1 ~  I love to read !
       He has only read at the most 5 books in the 16 years I've known him .

2 ~  He loves drinking coffee.
       I only love the smell of coffee

3 ~  He loves watching hockey.
       I breath a sigh of relief when playoffs are over .

4 ~  He goes to sleep as soon as his head hits the pillow .
       I need to lay there and figure out life first !

5 ~  I love eating pasta !
       Pasta makes him gag !

6 ~  He loves to fly .
       I have to be drugged to get on a plane.

7 ~  I can't go a day without chocolate
       He could live without it.

8 ~  I drink Pepsi.
       He drinks Mountain Dew

9 ~  I have to be early to everything.
       He likes arriving right on time.

10 ~ He likes older homes.
        I like new homes.

11 ~ He likes fast cars.
        I take it slow.

12 ~ He loves thrill rides.
        I love taking pictures of him on the thrill rides.

13 ~ He takes showers .
        I love baths .

14 ~ He loves ketchup on everything.
        I love mustard on everything.

15 ~ He loves me.
        I love him.


Different is good :)

He still picks me flowers

I have a weird kind of favorite flower ....

Most people would probably call it a weed ....

You can find them in ditches everywhere for about two weeks each year ....

My husband knows how much I love these flower~weeds ...

So he willingly picks me many bouquets of Lupins ....

Climbing through ditches ....

Just to pick me some weeds that I love ....

 

So every June, as long as they keep blooming ...

My table looks like this ....

 

All because :

 

He still picks me flowers ....

Hubby's Birthday

When you have little girls ...

You wake up to every special day with your very own homemade sign ....

Girls are thoughtful like that :)

They also secretly set their alarm clock for way before the turkeys even wake up ...

and fix their daddy a special breakfast ....

Little Man slept through the early morning breakfast ...

He decided to wait and celebrate after the sun came up :)

His Mama agreed and may have laid back down after taking pictures ...

but again ..

there is no proof ~ since I hold the camera :)

We had big plans to go out for supper and do a little shopping to celebrate hubby's birthday  ...

but about an hour before John was due to arrive home from work ....

a little blizzard blew in with a BOOM !

So there went our plans ...

Anyone see where the driveway and the road used to be ???

I of course was unprepared ...

For a freak storm that is ...

So the birthday boy came to the rescue ....

With some Subway drive through ...

Hey ! 

At least we ate ...

And finished off with the skor cheesecake - complete with the Wiggles candle ( because someone forgot to buy candles as well ) .... Not my best day - for being prepared that is ...

We made do and had a great time anyways :)

John's Birthday Skor Bar Cheesecake

Hubby's request this year wasn't for your typical birthday cake !

He wanted cheesecake , but not just any cheesecake - Skor Bar Cheesecake !

So I found a recipe online and thought I would share ...

You will need :

~ 2 cups of graham cracker crumbs

~ 1/2 cup of butter

~ 1/2 cup white sugar

~ 2 pkgs of cream cheese

~ 1 cup of white sugar

~ 4 eggs

~ 1 tbsp of lemon juice ( which I did not have ) ... oopps ...

~ 1 tsp vanilla

~ 6 skor bars

Start with mixing together in a saucepan:

2 cups of graham cracker crumbs

1/2 cup of butter

1/2 cup of sugar

Stir until it's all melted together ....

Press it into a 9 inch spring foam pan ....

Then it's time to mix together the actual yummy part ....

First dump in your softened cream cheese and your sugar ....

Mix that until there are no lumps left ....

Then add the vanilla and lemon juice ( if you have any ;) ) ....

Add the 4 eggs one at a time ....

While those are whipping up:

Grab your skor bars and a hammer !

Not kidding! 

Now pound the bars into little pieces ...

It is best if you throw the bars in to the freezer for a few hours ....

Makes it easier for them to break apart instead of turning to mush ....

Add them to your mixture ....

Mix for under a minute ...

It should look like this :)

Pour over your graham cracker mixture and bake at 350' for just over an hour ...

Here it is !

The finished birthday cheesecake . Complete with a Wiggles candle because someones wife forgot to buy actual candles and that was the only one in the house :)

A Sweet Gift

A beautiful gift arrived today via email ...

My Valentine's gift...

John ordered this for me ...

Samuel's name ...

Personally wrote in the sand by Carly Marie Dudley from Project Heal . Samuel's name was written at sunset in the beautiful white sand at Mullaloo Point Beach, North of the city of Perth in Western Australia .

This will be blown up on canvas and put on the wall in our living room.

Where we can look at it ...

Every.

Single.

Day.

Carly and her husband Sam started this project after their son Christian was born stillborn in 2007. Since then she has written over 16,000 children's names in the sand.

Making The Most Of The Cold

You may have heard we've had a little bit of snow here ....

So naturally I sent my oldest out in it ...

to go next door to the neighbors ...

because they offered homemade caramel corn ...

Perfectly good reason .....

Right ????

We are starting to experience just a teeny tiny bit of cabin fever . So the kiddos have been trying to keep busy  ....

Their favorite new game ....

Can we hit the target with the nerf gun  ....

This day the target was their gullible little brother's backside ....

They've been busy helping Mom out and keeping the Webkinz fed ...

School , School and more School !!

Does it ever end ?? 

I've heard it will once the flowers start blooming again ...

Which around here - is still many months away ....

Please don't tell my girls that they aren't getting spring break like the public schools get ....

Our little secret !

Puzzles are the new rage here ...

We've been putting lots of them together ...

Nothing says comfort on a cold day like fresh bread .....

If you can't beat the cold weather than join it !

That's just what we did .....

We dressed warm .....

And braved the cold for a few hours ....

I despise the cold ....

Could you guess ???

We've been ending our days with fresh popped popcorn !

No microwave stuff for us!

Always made by this handsome guy .....
